East Austin's RV community runs different from the Hill Country side of town. Around East Cesar Chavez, Mueller, and MLK Jr Blvd, the rig population skews toward urban full-timers, festival vendors, and Class B and Class C vans tied to the SXSW/F1/ACL transient economy.
That mix shapes our daily work. We see more boondocking-grade Sprinter and Transit van builds than any other zone in the metro, more Pecan Grove permanent rigs being patched in place across the river from downtown, and more short-stay rigs at McKinney Falls and Austin Lone Star RV Resort needing fast turnaround.
Travis County weather is the second driver. The 100F+ summers (105F+ from 2023 through 2025) bake Dicor lap sealant and EPDM seams, the rare hard freeze (Feb 2021, Jan 2024) splits PEX runs on rigs left winterized wrong, and Blackland Prairie hail east of I-35 still puts rigs out of service every spring.
The number one East Austin pattern is heat-baked seal failure. Dicor lap sealant beads on the front and rear cap radii dry, lift, and crack within 18-24 months under 105F+ surface temps. We bring this back with a $245 - $385 cleanout, primer, and self-leveling Dicor reseal; full perimeter reseals run $485 - $685.
The second pattern is van and Class B electrical. Festival vendors at SXSW and F1 push lithium banks hard; we get a steady call mix on Victron MultiPlus inverter faults, Battle Born BMS shutdowns, and miswired DC-DC chargers. A standard inverter remote-panel diag plus reset runs $185 - $245; full system rewires (battery to inverter to shore) run $585 - $1,250 depending on rig size.
The third is hard-water and freeze-cycle damage. Edwards-aquifer water through Austin Water hits 17-21 grains-per-gallon hardness and scales Suburban tanks fast - a 6-gallon swap runs $785 - $1,195. After-hours and Sunday calls add $40 - $75 to the flat-rate. We do not service rigs on the side of the highway; we work at homes, dealer lots, and campgrounds.

Extended-area runs into Bastrop, Lockhart, Buda, and Kyle are 4 - 6 hour next-day calls at the same flat-rate. Hill Country addresses west of Loop 360 are routed to our SW Austin / Dripping Springs truck. Chassis work (engine, transmission, brakes, leveling air bags) goes to Cummins South Plains in Buda or to Freightliner XCS in San Antonio; we handle everything from the chassis up.
